3 minute wonders to use to replace the nasties in common household products – toothpaste and deodorant
I use it to make toothpaste and deodorant for personal hygiene uses. This way I know that what I put on my body for my deodorant is free of parabens, aluminium and other chemicals with really unpronounceable names.
And in the case of the toothpaste I’m not ingesting fluoride and triclosan.
You can click on these links here for a short recipe for the deodorant. And here for the toothpaste. Both are so ridiculously easy to make and can be done in 3 minutes.
To read further on why you should not be ingesting fluoride – let along drinking fluoridated water – click here. Its not quite the answer you’d expect from the anti-fluoride sector.
3 minute wonders to drink, cook and bake with
For cooking and baking, I use it for example to deep fry chicken in my own version of homemade KFC. OK so the deep frying may take longer but the basic prep is yet another 3 minute wonder that you can easily do with coconut oil.
I incorporate a desert spoon of this oil into my daily early morning rehydration routine. Most of us are chronically dehydrated especially after rising from our nights sleep where we will have lost around 1 liter of water simply through breathing. Hence putting this desert spoon of coconut oil into a 500 -700 ml cup of warm water, allows me to both rehydrate and kick start my energy for the day from the ketones in the coconut oil.
If you want to know more ketones and how they are so important to people with Alzheimers and dementia, you can click here.
Top and average sports people eat coconut oil to boost their performances
Both top performing sports people and average punters like me, use coconut oil to get access to the ketones from the coconut oil to fuel their performances by replacing sugar and carbohydrates.
I personally use coconut oil in combination with something like a good quality peanut butter for race day preparation when I do waka ama (outrigger canoe racing). That plus consume a number of cans of good quality coconut water to ensure that I’m well hydrated
